Having spent the last few years releasing a wave of sweet and uplifting offerings, New York-based outfit Woo & The Clouds have now returned with their latest laid-back delight ‘Can I See You’.
Featuring guest vocals from Yirou, ‘Can I See You’ makes for a wonderfully bright and euphoric return for the group. Mixing heartfelt melodies with some truly rich and atmospheric vocals gives this new release a warm and inviting feel that very few could match.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with lead singer Woo to find out more about the new track and what we can expect from them in the near future.

Chris) Hi guys, how are you today?
Woo) I can’t complain. I'm living. I woke up today, and got another shot at this thing.
For those that haven’t heard of you yet, how would you best describe your sound and who have been your biggest influences so far?
Pure, honest, raw, ethereal. I call it ‘Ghetto Celestial’.My biggest influences: Meshell Ndegeocello, Van Morrison, Sade, Tracy Chapman. Bon and Sufjan. They all have that connection with raw emotion, being vulnerable with your voice and words. They’re all unfiltered, we’re scared of the unfiltered now.
You have just released your new single ‘Can I See You’. Can you tell us how that track came about?
The song is about seeing someone that you love, but y’all just doesn’t work anymore. But there's always that space of fantasy. I like that space, where you tell yourself what you wanna hear, like blind Faith. The song started as a jam session at a family party, Seattle Washington, 3am, smoke in the air, Hennessy, a few bottles of wine. I freestyle the whole song, with the Producer Richard Newman on the guitar, my dad Philip Woo on the keys. It just happened, we blacked out, It’s like when time stops; like a great kiss from a stranger on a dance floor. I took the actual recording from that live session, and re-recorded the vocals, and added Yirou, her voice makes me feel like everything in the world is fine, she’s incredible.
And was there a particular style you were looking for when you wrote it?
Nature, like naked in the woods vibe.
Can we expect a new EP, or even an album from you in the near future?
Check out ‘Wash Over’ EP. More coming, I’ve been holding on to a lot of music, But tomorrow isn't promised, so I wanna just let it go, and make room for the next. So I’ve just been releasing music when it feels good.
The coronavirus outbreak has obviously affected everyone’s plans, but what have you got in store for the rest of the year?
Making Babies. I’m about to have a son, at the end of this month.
And finally, what has been your fondest memory as an artist working today?
Making this song. My Dad is a professional musician, and this was the first time we jammed live together. I grew up on tour with him, sleeping on tour bus bunks, and sitting at the side of him while he played for stadium crowds. So it’s full circle to make music with him. Hopefully I can one day make music with my son.
