Chris) Hi guys, how are you today?

The Violet Stones) We’re good thanks!

For those that haven’t heard of you yet, how would you best describe your sound and who have been your biggest influences so far?

We’re probably best described as Incubus playing Nirvana and our biggest influences would probably be Nirvana, System of a Down, Silverchair, Korn & Tired Lion. Our influences do keep evolving though, we love anything grungy with a good melody!

You have just released your new single ‘Guinea Pig’. Can you tell us how that track came about?

‘Guinea Pig’ was written by Sarah and she brought it to us and we just built upon it as a band. She actually released an acoustic version of it on her channel a couple years ago before it became a Violet Stones song.

And was there a particular style you were looking for when you wrote it?

We never really write a song with a style in mind. Whatever comes out, comes out and if we like it, we keep it.

You are also releasing your second studio album soon. What can expect on that?

Definitely heavier vibes and a fuller sound with a bit more variety. There’s a bit of grunge, bit of metal and even a ballad. We think this album shows how our sound has developed as we’ve grown as a band.

The coronavirus outbreak has obviously affected everyone’s plans, but what have you got in store for the rest of the year?

We’re going to be releasing the album at the end of the year and we’re going to be making some more music videos as well. We’re also planning on starting to write some new stuff!

And finally, what has been your fondest memory as an artist working today?

Our trip to Queensland was really fun. It was a first time playing out of the state and we road tripped all the way there. It was only a weekend but we got some super fun times out of it and even played our best show up there. We vlogged the whole trip & it’s up on our YouTube channel so we can go back and watch it to re-live it whenever we want.
