Hello Dirty Slippers. What first got you into music?
Well, I was really young, maybe 2 or 3 years old, when my Dad put on The Beatles' White album and Dire Straits' Walk of life song. Then I realized, I'm only interested in guitar music! After that, when I started High school, we formed our band with my childhood friend Tamas Szecsi, and played some Green Day, Oasis covers.
What do you think your role is in this world?
That's a hard question, but I believe we try to do everything to our fans, followers and the new faces too! We had a "School Tour prevention programme" in Hungary against drugs, alcohol and cervical cancer and we made charity campaigns as well. We were one of the firsts Hungarian bands, who made an anti-war song of Ukrainian-Russian conflict. So, we would like to use our popularity for good purposes. I think that's our role in this modern world.
Your latest track is 'Honest kid'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?
We are so happy! We recorded this song at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with fantastic producer George Shilling (Mike Oldfield, Oasis, Frank Turner) and engineer Neil Dawes, who worked with Ed Sheeran. That was a dream come true moment in our lives and some great radio stations in the UK and Australia played the single already, so we are super excited about the future :)
Can you write more about your first UK show in Guildford at 17th of March?
Of course! That will be a great club concert at the Holroyd Arms with amazing bands like Marseille and Modern Guilt. Both are really talented and my opinion is, these 3 bands will rock the stage on a maximum level! So we are waiting for the audience and promise an unforgettable night!
How do you spend your time?
Our band's life is almost normal, we don't have unusual things, we just love making music to the people, always try to be better and better and we are really happy to live in our dreams. (and we could finally play in the UK! )
What are you most proud of?
I am really grateful to God for helping me, us on our way. From 2009, we achieved successes in Hungary and had 3 albums on the official charts, had 10 singles on various radio charts, played more than 1000 concerts live from the smallest villages to the greatest festivals and clubs like Arad Open Air Festival or Markthalle Hamburg. To be honest, now I am really proud to Honest kid, the song just released and suddenly became "Single of the week" in Birmingham and has been on the week chart in Manchester.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
The Sherlocks, I really love that band! They are supermassive and the sound is so energetic, I hope we could make shows together in 2023! My biggest dream is to open for Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher, Green Day and Sam Fender. These are impossible dreams, but I will work on them :)
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?
We are a perfectionist band, so my band members always find a new idea, how to be more professional and better. About the PR and management parts, we are working with great people, who help us step by step. The first live show and dozens of media features and interviews like this help us a lot to grow in the UK. We humbly prepare for everything and we are already really thankful!
Do you think that technology is improving lives?
It helps a lot, especially for today's bands, but it also has a lot of disadvantages. We've all been to a festival where we're facing lots of phone screens instead of happy and smiling faces. This part is obviously not good, just like the concert videos with poor sound quality on Youtube, which are uploaded by the audience. But that's the way the world is, you have to accept that everyone likes to record and publish everything. Of course, it also has many more positive aspects, since thanks to it we can also talk and use the internet and social media to get to England or anywhere in the world. Yesterday we appeared in an online magazine in France, next week we can give an interview to an Egyptian blog. What is this if not fantastic for a Hungarian band from a small town?
What are your plans for the future?
We will record a new videoclip for Honest kid in the near future, and hopefully after that we could go back to the UK to finish our first, full english language album with 10 songs and produced by George Shilling. We plan more UK shows and interviews. And we won't forget our Hungarian audience for a minute, we will have some great shows in our home country on open air festivals and our School Tour prevention program continues.
