With a deep love of Western-Pop and K-Pop within her music, Alsa has been reshaping her identity from that of a cover artist to a pop icon in her own right. Her newest single, “I Wanna”, showcases that effortless blend, where she showcases her bright, airy vocals atop a soft pop production. With inspiration taken from her own thoughts and experiences, “I Wanna” puts into song that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you meet someone and somehow instantly connect and fall for that person, wanting to be by their side forever.

Do you like living in Indonesia? Can you recommend this country to people from Europe for example?
So far, I like living in Indonesia. The nature, the culture, the people are so amazing, and the food is legit! Having the same season makes me more comfortable because of the fewer changes. But sometimes, I feel like I want to feel another season, like winter, for example.
And of course I would recommend people from another country to visit Indonesia! Because...why not!? The view of nature is extraordinary and the food is also so fantastic that you won't regret it!
What do you love K-Pop the most for? Would you trade this genre for another?
Of course I love the music! I think K-Pop is always easy to listen to and ear-catching. K-Pop always gives us not only music, but also the concept. The way they deliver their concept is beyond amazing! Their music and their shows are always all out and they dare to be different and not bring any boredom. I wouldn't trade this genre for another because K-Pop is already so strong of a genre.
Your latest song is 'I Wanna'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
During the process, I came up with some of the melody, like the vocal melody and I hummed it, then recorded it when I thought the melody was good. Then I did some work with a producer and developed that humming melody that I recorded as a voice note.
By then, the music was ready with the melody (no lyrics yet) and then I started to write the lyrics. There was an unusual thing that happened during the whole production process, my right leg cramped up suddenly while recording the vocals!
Does it come easy for you to write songs? What advice can you give to beginning artists?
Actually, no. Because I'm still learning songwriting and I also recently started writing on my own. So, it's not that easy for me to write songs. For beginning artists, I just can say to just start it, and be confident first and foremost because you never know unless you just start writing.
What is the biggest mistake you have made within your career to this point?
I think my biggest mistake within my music career is that I did not perform to be fullest ability when doing shows.
Can you tell us where you get inspiration for your songs?
For the lyrics, I usually write a love song and get inspired by the current situation which is not only my own situation, but also others' situations that I could related to. So basically, 'I Wanna' got inspired by my own and others' situations that I was able to relate to.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
Unfortunately no, I don't have any hobbies outside of music.
Do you have a dream person with whom you would like to work?
To be honest, if I can choose, of course I would like to work with IU because I'm a big fan of hers. Besides her, I would like to work with HIV! from Indonesia and Ariana Grande.
As an artist, what sets you apart from others?
I think it's the character of my voice and my looks that sets me apart from other singers.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now, I'm actually in the process of making my next single. The material already exists, it just needs to be matured and developed.
My next single has kind of the same vibe but a different style. Besides that, I want to perform at some shows, either mini club-room shows or an intimate performance, and hopefully have a big show one day! And I think I'd like to make an album as well!
