Hello Roni Amir. What is life like in Israel? Would you change this country for another?
Israel is the country I was born in. Like any country it has its issues but as a Jewish person I'm proud to say that I have a country that I belong to.
What made you take up music?
Music has always been a part of my life since I remember my self. As a baby my Dad player his guitar and sing to me and my Mom told me I got so excited that I almost couldn't breath. Afterwards, I started playing the piano and turned to the guitar at the age of 14. I had a band at the time and we went to recording studios and I felt the attraction to the music production and engineering world.
Your latest track is 'Fight'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?
Fight is a song that I wrote to myself basically. It's a song that speaks about being able to hold on and believe in your self even if everything seems to be harsh. Being a musician isn't easy and you have to believe in your self as an artist and as a professional in that field.
What is the biggest mistake you have made within your career to this point?
The biggest mistake is not recognising the point where you don't know enough. At the beginning of my career I didn't know enough. It took me time to work on myself in order to know my weaknesses in dealing with myself, other people, being better as a producer. I thought I knew better than I actually knew :) It takes lots and lots of trial and error to be a good music producer and a good artist. Nowadays I have gained much more experience. I know that because saying "I don't know enough" is so much easier for me nowadays :)
How do you spend your time?
I try to make the right balance between my work and my family. It is really important for me to be a good father to my children. Artists tend to be self-centred in their creation but I always tell myself that my children and my family are my biggest creation so it puts me in the right mindset and perspective toward my music. But at the same time, while I'm at my studio, I can be really concentrated in creativity and I'm totally in a different zone.
What are you most proud of?
I'm really proud of being able to write, compose and produce my music. This gives me a lot of freedom. And during the last year I've freed my self from the nessecity of being the vocalist. That way, I gave my self the ticket for total freedom. I'm free to move further between genres and sounds because my vocal boundaries are not there anymore. So each song gets exactly what it needs to be what it needs to be.
What advice do you have for beginning artists?
I'd say learn as much as you can and be the best musician you can. Be kind to people and be kind with your self!
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?
I'm creating new music, try to challenge my self and mix genres that I haven't tried before. And I keep learning new things about this industry all the time.
Do you think that technology is improving lives?
I think that technology really improve lives but I must say that one must know how to use it wisely! As a music teacher, I tell my students they can either upload stories and spend their entire life in social media, or they can take that mobile phone they hold in their hands and turn it to a recording studio for free...That's how technology is powerful!
What memorable responses have you had to your work?
I'm always excited to see how people pay attention to details! Today someone asked me to send her the lyrics of Fight...I was really excited to see that she actually cared about its' meaning!
I also remember that in a review of another song of mine, named "Before", the writer mentioned how good my mixing and mastering was. These are details that take close attention. I really like that about people who listen to my hard work!
