Kamil) Hey Stephanie Heitz, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?
Thank you so much for your interest in my music! There are so many qualities that make a musician great and I'm certainly striving to be a great one myself. I'm not afraid to be vulnerable with my lyrics. People need to know they're not alone in this journey. I pour my heart into everything I do in life. This helps me perform each song I create with passion and conviction.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
If you want to see my face light up, just talk to me about my music! As far as I'm concerned, songwriting is the cheapest form of therapy. So many emotions surface during a writing session. Music can stir special memories and even heal the heart. It's truly a gift from God!
Your latest track is 'Got This Joy'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?
I actually wrote "Got This Joy" a couple of years ago. When the pandemic took us by surprise, people quickly began to lose hope. I just knew this was the perfect time to take it into the studio. It's all about an overwhelming sense of elation that's impossible to keep inside! I believe that true joy comes from knowing God and standing on His promises.
How do you recall your time performing in church? How did it influence your music career?
My roots are in the church. I've had the honor of leading worship at sweet churches in the country, multicultural churches in the city, and mega churches in my own community. These experiences have fueled my desire to minister to peoples hearts through music.
Who is "Mimi?" Can you talk about your relationship with your grandmother?
WOW! Where do I start? My "Mimi" was a kind soul who loved life and adored people. My greatest musical inspiration was my jazz musician grandmother. I loved sitting next to her on the piano bench while we harmonized to all sorts of classic tunes. My memories of times spent with my grandmother are filled with pure joy!
What is faith to you?
My faith is everything to me! It has nothing to do with going through the motions of a religion. It's all about communing on a daily basis and walking in a personal relationship with the Creator of the world. It's truly my lifestyle and overflows into everything I do.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
My greatest desire is to create music that uplifts and encourages people. I really enjoy writing music that has a message. I love people and I want every listener to feel seen, heard, and valued. I created a new genre I call "Faith-Infused Soul Music."
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I'm still learning how to navigate this crazy industry myself! I'm just doing my best to have fun in this process, engage with my listeners, and build lasting relationships with other amazing artists. We can all learn from each other.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
The internet can be a really powerful tool for an independent artist like myself. I've met so many wonderful people from around the globe all because of my social platforms. Some of these connections have tured into wonderful friendships and even music collaborations.
What are your plans for next year? Do you have any productions ready to be released?
I'm so glad you asked! You can expect lots of new music from me, including some exciting collaborations! I'm especially overjoyed to be releasing a tribute song in honor of my beloved Dad, who recently went to Heaven. Writing this song was so healing and I hope others will find comfort in my message.
