Normally I don’t go for all this nineties revival indie rock but I do know a banger when I hear one. Honey Lung’s third single ‘Sophomore’ is heavy in its American leanings, which in this particular case is a strength. Listening to it is the closest a contemporary British band can take you to the experience of putting on Crooked Rain Crooked Rain for the first time, recalling that abstract intersection of teenage angst and poetry. This is revivalism done well. Top marks. Honey Lung have passed their sophomore year and they’ll be juniors in September.
