Montreal psych outfit Chocolat have been kicking around for a while now, having released two albums so far via their bandcamp. ‘Les Pyramides’ is the first cut taken from third album Rencontrer Looloo (loosely translated to: meet Looloo), and it’s an esoteric mind bender. Producer/guitarist Emmanuel Ethier describes it as “early Roxy Music doing a modal jazz exercise on crack.” If your imaginative faculties are up to the task of rendering that phrase into sound then it’s pretty much a dead ringer. Tangential like jazz, eccentric like Roxy Music - all with a vague chemical headiness.
