As a new teaser of his upcoming second album, Liverpool singer/songwriter Kris James unveils the hopeful heart-warming ballad 'Home.' A complete contrast to his previous disco-funk inspired release 'The Way You Move,' Kris James slows it down for the cozy season with escalating wide soundscapes, gospel choir and accompanying soft piano. The new single ‘Home’ was released on October 7th. Ahead of the Will Young tour, Kris James also was supporting Anastacia on her ‘I’m Outta Lockdown’ tour throughout September across Europe in Geneva, Rome, Florence and more.

Hello Kris James. What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?
Well if I might say so myself, I think I can relay an emotion when I sing. And I!d like to think I can write a tune too.
Who inspired you to make music?
Well as lots of artists, ever since I was a child, right from the Beatles down… but I suppose I!d say my parents, who introduced music into my life right from an early age.
Your latest track is 'Home'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?
Home is a song we wrote about yearning for the comfort of coming back to your safe place… but not just from a physical perspective, as much in terms of the people you come home to, and the feeling of being loved, safe and secure when you!re around them.
What is your creative process like?
My writing partner Stewart Boyle and I tend to put the foundations together – him the music, and myself the music and lyrics; and we work with the amazing producer Sam Williams who has really taken the sound onto a whole new level recently.
What is the biggest decision you!ve had to make?
To keep going with music. There is always someone telling you its time to get a "proper! job lol!
What makes you different from others?
Passion and approachability. There!s a lot people who have one or the other, but I think you have to treat others respectfully. There!s plenty who don!t in this business!
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Gratitude for all of the support and love. To hear your songs being sung back to you at a gig is the greatest feeling, and I!ll forever be grateful for that experience, so thank you!
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
It’s made it more democratic… you don!t just have to rely on the big power players because you can do so much more yourself now. It does mean you!re spinning a lot of plates though!
What is the first thing you think of when you wake up?
It can!t be time to be up already can it..!?
What are your plans for the future?
Well there might just be a new album in the new year…! We!ve lined up some amazing tunes which I!m trying to put the finishing touches to whilst on this tour with Will Young. I cannot wait to share them!
