Electric Sol started out as a solo studio project by lead singer/songwriter Ed Sweet, who was writing a story about a band trying to make it big playing Native American casinos. He dropped the story but started making the music, and the live band formed after Electric Sol’s eponymous first release in 2016. During the pandemic of 2020, Ed spent time re-tooling his sound and worked with two new producers (Dapo Torimiro and Secret Attraction) on two new EPs. Both Accept Me (September 2020) and City Tonight (Coming in April 2021) put Electric Sol in the same musical space as bands like Capital Cities, Metronomy, and Miami Horror.

Hello Electric Sol. What first got you into music?
Hi Kamil, thanks so much for giving me a chance to talk with your audience. Music was my first love and I used to sing all the time as a little kid...talent shows, sporting events, holiday parties, you name it. But I must have gotten self-conscious along the way and gave it up for decades until Michael Jackson died in 2009. I don't know why his untimely death hit me so hard but it did, and that's when I started thinking about making music of my own.
What do you think your role is in this world?
I think my role in this world is to fight against cancel culture and bring people together by being open and loving and curious. Our band members range in age from 28 to 57 and we come from all different backgrounds. Our motto is no egos, no ideologies, and no expectations. We try to be open to each other, learn from each other, and respect each other and everyone we encounter.
Your latest track is 'Looking For Love'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?
Looking For Love is our first track with Toxxic Project producing from scratch. We really love working with him! We first found out about him on Twitter, and he came to us with a remix of our song City Tonight that we fell in love with. After that great experience, we thought we'd try to work on some other tracks together. The most fun and unusual thing that happened with this song is that Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, tweeted that he really liked it. That tweet brought a fair amount of extra attention to the song and our band.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Follow your passions, stay optimistic, and have a sense of humor. Three messages in one!
How do you spend your time?
I work as a marketing and advertising writer, so when I'm not making or promoting music, I'm usually doing that. I love going out to eat at nice restaurants, so I try to do that as much as possible, often with my band mates. I live in Phoenix and I like going to Los Angeles and New York.
What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the fact that there are people out there who like my music. Every positive comment or note from a fan makes it all worthwhile.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Any new wave band from the 1980s!
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?
We're putting out new music on a regular basis, staying engaged with fans on social media, practicing our live act, and constantly learning about music promotion from a great organization/community called Band Builder Academy.
Do you think that technology is improving lives?
Yeah, for the most part technology is great. It's allowed us to reach a worldwide audience and work with different producers, mixing engineers, and mastering engineers around the globe.
What are your plans for the future?
Our future plans are to keep creating, learning, and having as much fun as possible.
