Morning Trips, a diversified indie-rock foursome from the United States, has captivated audiences with their unwavering devotion to Alt-Rock. The band's musical production, however, does not end there. The Florida band's broad style has gone from effervescent, atmospheric pop to frenzied, contemplative punk, and more, with inspirations from a variety of different related genres, and it continues to give and amaze us each time. This time, Morning Trips channel 90s Shoegaze and Modern Indie Pop influences on their latest offering, "An Imaginary Life”. The band's first release this year 'An Imaginary Life” kicks off the newest chapter of the band. This tune showcases Morning Trips diverse sonic palette, as they continue to build upon the expansive, eclectic sound they have carved out for themselves.

Hey Morning Trips, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?
Thank you, Kamil! Nice to communicate, I got into music probably around my teenage years when Guitar Hero was starting to come out. I was always aware of it cause I’d hear it in commercials or the radio, but that time period really cemented my interest.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I’d love to personally produce a song alongside 100 Gecs or have a song produced by James Murphy. I’d love to have a record produced by Brian Eno. I’d love to produce a song for The BLSSM.
Your latest song is 'An Imaginary Life'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
For sure! This song started out in our guitarist Amos’ old shed. We had been doing a series of writing sessions at his house and the week before we wrote a fast, energetic song. The week later, we wanted to write something more laid back. I think it was only Amos, Noah, and I that week. Amos laid down this really dreamy, 90’s inspired riff over the drums Noah demo’d out. It took me a couple of months to get the right lyrics right. We wanted this song to have live drums, so we linked up with our friend Jose Del Rio (The Word Alive, Vagrants) and were fortunate enough to get the song mixed by Zach Fogarty (Jean Dawson, Claud) and mastered by Becker Mastering (Sza, Doja Cat). It was a tremendous pleasure working with all of them.
What are you focussing on right now?
So we are preparing to release of our first EP called “Super Best Case Scenario” - we are planning to release each of the songs sequentially with videos. We were so happy with the work on this 1st one, that we are halfway through our 2nd one, which we will hopefully release this year too. We are also preparing the process for our debut album.
What are you most proud of?
We are super proud of learning from each of the few producers and engineers who’ve worked alongside us. A couple of our local shows, we’ve been getting encores, so that is always crazy. I’m proud of the friendship I’ve formed with my guys in this band too.
What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?
I’d say “job” of being an artist feels non-stop, especially if you’re independent. There is this TikTok meme with the voice over about being your own producer, your own videographer, your own social media manager, etc. I’m fortunate enough to have incredible teammates and support systems but it certainly can feel like the weight of expectations and your own drive can sometimes also be overwhelming. Not getting in your own way, I suppose, is the biggest challenge I personally face.
How do you structure your day?
Hahaha, that’s great question and something I’m honestly learning to do. In my personal life, I’ve moved towards doing the “life as an artist and creative” thing full time which can go hand in hand with the “getting in your own way” thing, so making sure I have been writing visible, “to-do lists” to make things more tangible and less overwhelming has been a good process.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
3/4 of us are a bit of sports-nerds. I love the Philadelphia Eagles more than most things.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Hmmm, not all the time but if it’s a good song on shuffle, I will. Lately, I can’t stop singing “Coming Up” by Paul McCartney.
What are your plans for the future?
So this spring into summer, we will be releasing the songs from our first EP. Hopefully by Fall, we will be releasing songs from our 2nd EP. We are also recording a single next week, so that will probably come out in Fall too. We have a small tour of Florida coming up at the end of month that goes into April and we are playing an inaugural local festival at Hunter Amphitheater in Pensacola, Florida. Exciting times.
