Andrea Arno Jubert (born March 20, 1991), best known as Andy Arno, is a Spanish composer, singer and musician. Andy was born and raised in Barcelona city. She started singing at the age of 5 imitating the singers she used to listen at home… her parents had an amazing vinyl collection; mum used to listen to Pop and R&B artists such as Usher, Aaliyah, Madonna. Dad listened to folk and rock music; Dire Straits was his favorite band so she grew up listening to an interesting variety of music genres. Then, at the age of 21, she decided to study music at "Escuela Taller de Blues in Barcelona", where she took voice lessons with Marian Barahona and Jonathan Herrero. As well as musical language classes with Ivan Kovácevic.

Hey Andy Arno, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?
Hi! My pleasure! I guess the first connection was very instinctive, animal. My parents played lots of vinyls of different music styles at home. I was 5 when I started singing.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Most of the artists I would love to collaborate with, at the point of thinking "I die if this happens", are dead. From here, I would say Sia (I admire her self-powering lyrics and her unique, emotional timbre), Stevie Nicks (I am big on of her music since ancient times) and, of course, my beloved Florence Welch. She is just a magician.
Your latest song is 'Misery'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
Sure! Well, Misery was born spontaneously many years ago, a friend of mine played some chords and the melody came to me immediately. As well as most of the lyrics. I love the broad meaning the song can take on so that every listener understands something different. The song process was unusual itself because it took four years for me to have the final version. I recorded the song in three different studios because I wasn’t completely satisfied with the first two results. They say third time’s a charm... In this case, it happened like this.
What are you focussing on right now?
Nowadays I am finishing my first album, which is a journey through myself. If I could grab my past for the last years and turn into music, “Through the Looking Glass” would be the result. The real me; my fears, my doubts, my thinking... my evolution. People will identify theirselves, because it talks about the deepest things of life while retaining that spark of everyday life. That curiosity and innocence. Dark and light. You will find happy, poppy songs in the first titles, and bluesy, darker songs in the last ones. We are using violins and wind ensemble instruments for the post-production. It will be massive. I expect to release it before Summer 2023.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the team I work with. I thank everyday how lucky I am to be able to make what I love the most surrounded with such an amazing group of unique musicians. They are out of the ordinary. And, most important, humble and good people. It’s important for me to create a relaxed, fluent, ego-free atmosphere, so we can do our thing. Regards to Walter, Juan & Pau.
What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?
Through people eyes, you always feel that prejudice disguised as compassion accompanied of sentences that sound like “Oh you are an artist, good luck!”, especially if you are not featured on Spotify’s “Top Songs Global”. But artists can make our passion a way of living since the world has become globally connected. For me, for example, I get a lot of projects from social media. As in all professions, if you want to stand out you have to do a good job. To be honest I don’t think this sector is too different from others; it is true that here you need a good chain of connections and be clever, determined enough, to be your own boss. But I enjoy this part of the job of being a self-managed artist.
How do you structure your day?
I wake up late (my biorhythms don't work well in the morning. I admire people who leap out of bed with endless energy at 7am...). I go to work to the professional studio twice a week until lunch time. If not, I exercise to release my mind and stress. I am a very sensitive person. I am like a sponge (for the good and for the bad). I like to have lunch with my boyfriend or visiting my mother, who lives nearby. In the afternoon around 5pm I go back to my home studio to work. If I compose… I do it during the night. I am a night owl.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
Sure! I love cooking, eating (sorry not sorry), cats, horror comics and author movies. Hanging out with my friends is also a must. But as I grow older I enjoy loneliness more.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Who doesn’t? If I have a casting the next day I practise among bubbles hahaha!. I love Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone…
What are your plans for the future?
In music terms, my personal challenge is to release my LP. I feel it will be a “before and after” and wherever life drives me, I will be happy there. In personal terms, I plan to go to live out of the city. Surrounded by nature that brings me peace to keep creating "red pill" music.
