Up-and-coming Kiwi pop powerhouse LOVETA is back with her captivating new single All We Got, from her upcoming debut EP ‘More Than Fun’. A fun and funky retro-inspired dance pop track, with a distinct 70’s flavour and an undeniable groove, it captures the idea of a fantasy romance - the song being an internal love letter to a mystery lover or a hypothetical crush. It plays with the idea of a summer fling, and feeling the excitement of the unknown. LOVETA’s fourth release this year, it follows her nu-disco inspired anthem More Than Fun, road trip-ready Drive, and mellow-but-powerful R&B tune, Nostalgia.

Hey LOVETA, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What is your dream project?
Hey Kamil, thanks for chatting to me! My dream project would be an album where I collaborate with a bunch of different artists and producers - I love artists like Tove Lo, Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa, YEBBA - just super talented females that I admire. I also really vibe with The Weeknd and Post Malone so working with them would be awesome. I’d like to combine lots of energies and flavours and just create something really distinct and interesting.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
I do! I love the outdoors and hot yoga, dancing, acting, cooking vegan food, and reading. My hobbies are still pretty creative in one way or another.
Your latest song is 'All We Got'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
Yes, I wrote ‘All We Got’ about a year ago and had a very strong idea of what I wanted it to sound like - disco funk with soulful vocals, fresh energy and feel-good vibes. The melody came to me quite quickly - I’m pretty sure I got the idea while in the shower, which is common for me! I brought the song to my collaborator, Wulfie and we rearranged it a little and picked some fun sounds and instruments which was an awesome process. We recorded live drums to give it a bit of a spark, and really just had a good time adding bits and pieces at the end. It ended up being the groovy retro-inspired party song that I wanted, and it couldn’t have turned out better!
When you are working through problems in your work, who do you talk to?
I have a great network of musical friends who are all artists, so I like to call on them if I need to troubleshoot. My main collaborator Wulfie, is a wealth of knowledge and is awesome with advice, and for coming to my rescue!
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?
To stay inspired I try to write regularly, listen to a lot of different types of music, and attend/play as many gigs and concerts as possible. Having a musical mentor is super helpful, as well as learning from past experiences, and making a list of goals and improvements. Observing what has worked well for other artists is a good way to gauge if I’m on the right track or need to make some changes in direction.
Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.
My favorite parts would be the energy when performing live on stage, working and connecting with other talented creatives, and bringing my songs to life. Least favourite parts would be long hours crafting music, money spent in the process - and at times, the attitudes of other people. However I wouldn’t change my job or lifestyle for the world!
Can you write what was your best performance in your career? How do you remember it?
Oh wow, there’s been so many! But I recently performed a release show for my EP with a bunch of my creative friends, and the energy of that performance was amazing. It was super intimate, and on a tiny stage, but somehow that made it more meaningful. Anytime I get to perform my music with my band, I have a great time!
What makes you angry?
Those who lack of self-awareness, bad drivers, rudeness, entitlement, and waking up too early.
What is an artistic outlook on life?
To me it’s about finding the depth, meaning, and beauty in life - not just in the amazing things, but also the mundane and painful moments. Trying to look at things with an artistic perspective and see how you can transform it or relate it back to yourself.
What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next five to 10 years?
I’d love to keep releasing music consistently and hopefully find success in that. Travel overseas and work with some more amazing creatives, as well as go on tour and play some major festivals. I’d really like to build my music into a brand and see where it takes me!
