LITM Rock Picks This Week: Drug Store Raid and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we curate a mix of artists like Drug Store Raid and more!

Drug Store Raid - “Vi Ar Finnjävlar”

Hailing from the heart of Helsinki's underground, Drug Store Raid bursts onto the scene with a genre-bending mix of punk, jazz-funk, no-wave, and indie-dance — and on their latest single, “Vi Ar Finnjävlar”, they present an electric fusion of punk rock and hard rock, with their gritty bass lines, their evocative vocal performance, and the precise, engaging drumming sequence that punctuates this song rather well. Add in the droning rhythm guitars for that tinge of a darker sound, and you have the very best of Scandinavian rock in a bottle — check out the track here!

The Daytime High - “Every Single Day”

The Daytime High, a California band blending classic rock, shoegaze, and alternative music, has been making waves since their formation in 2022 — and on their eponymous album, they bring their latest single, “Every Single Day” — a sunny, optimistic song that’s perfect to blast in the car as you drive down the sunny West Coast freeways; with a relaxing, engaging vocal performance mixed with a drumming performance that takes you right back to the classic rock era of the 1970s, there’s a lot to love about the way this song comes together — be it the vocals, or the beautiful guitar performance. The Heroic Enthusiasts - “Wake Me When It’s Over”

The Heroic Enthusiasts, a duo formed in New York, was born of a shared love for Brit-pop and punk rock music— and since their debut, they’ve been crafting intense ballads that challenge the boundaries of genre, impressing with every release — and on their latest single, “Wake Me Up When It’s Over”, they bring their trademark gritty sound, this time making use of synths and basses rather expertly to fill the low-end with texture and character. The pads and guitars sit delightfully atop, with the vocal performance incorporating sweeping melodies, and evocative lyricism to keep the track engaging, and moving smoothly from beginning to end. All in all, a winner! Take a listen to the track here:

Kirk van Saturn - “Abraham”

Kirk van Saturn is a band that christens themselves the “gleeful glam rock prophets of the end times” — cheesy description aside, their sound is a hypnotic mix of hard rock, gospel, and seaboard melodies, packaged together like lightning in a bottle — and on their latest single, “Abraham”, they bring the very best of their sonic talents. Be it the magical dual guitars that dominate the spaces between the vocals, or the high-powered singing that takes you to a world another altogether, there’s a certain posse to how this song comes together— and it’s all a beautifully executed affair at the end. The mix is wide open and spacious, while retaining all of its focused energy for a thumping, thundering sound that’s sure to amaze you. Take a listen to the track here!

Monrad - “Caught Up”

Monrad, the solo project of Matthew Ramon, is a delicious blend of surf rock, spaghetti western, and atmospheric layers — and on their latest single, “Caught Up”, Matthew adopts a raw, direct vocal style accompanied beautifully by the basses and the guitars, as he delves into deep themes with his lyrics — all. In contrast, the guitars make beautiful melodies in the background. The sound is layered and introspective, and this is kept beautiful company by the drumming, which clicks to a steady rhythm that would remind one of Gorillaz — and the track comes together with an elegance that does not cease to amaze and thrill right from the beginning to end. All in all, it’s a track you mustn’t miss! Take a listen to it here:
