LITM Rock Picks This Week: For You Brother and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we curate a mix of artists like For You Brother, and more!

Hearse Pileup - “Realise”

Hearse Pileup is a raw and gritty band from London, known for their loud, angry warnings and doomsaying of an impending future — and on their latest single, “Realise”, they bring their signature grit and aggression to the fore once more; right from the angry punk rock guitars to the express drumming, the energy is a punch to the part of one’s brain that has “rock” plastered on it; and for good measure! The vocals are expressive ,the solos in the middle of the song electrifying, and they’re all backed up by solid percussion and bass-playing that keeps the groove an eleven on ten throughout. With a solid mix to go, this one’s a winner! Take a listen to the track here:

Powers Of The Monk - “It’s Your Voodoo Working”

Powers of the Monk, founded by David S. Monk and CasSondra Powers in 2006 in Detroit, Michigan, is a band that has dabbled in electronic rock, indie pop and folk, and now present their latest single, “It’s Your Voodoo Working”, that makes a bit of a return to their rock roots, this time with a harder-edged instrumentation that would remind you of underground grunge rock; while Powers charms with her vocals, the guitars and the drumming with their lo-fi mixing add quite a sprinkle of charisma to this track — and the voodoo works! With a healthy dose of energy keeping the song flourishing throughout, you’re sure to have a blast with this one! Take a listen to the track here:

The Gerry Farrow Band - “Drink (To The Music In My Head)”

The Gerry Farrow Band is led by UK-based singer-songwriter Gerry Farrow, originally from Oldham and now in the East Midlands, they ride high on their success on “Giving Up”, fresh into their latest single, “Drink (To The Music In My Head)”; a fun, uptempo number punctuated by charming guitar playing throughout the song, topped off my Gerry Farrow’s vocals. The acoustics throughout the song sound warm and inviting, while the electric guitars have just the right amount of crunch to retain a distinctive flavour of their own; add in some fun percussion choices, and you’ll have you head bobbing to this in no time; check out the track here!

For You Brother - “America”

Formed of Phil Davis and Phil Noah, rock outfit For You Brother have struck the perfect balance between hard rock and positive, festive energy on their latest track, “America”; featuring swinging rhythms coupled with infectious melodies and vocal delivery that gets stuck in your head, they put together a solid energy package in this track. The electric guitars are superbly executed, while the drumming has some serious chops — and coupled with the keys and the vocal harmonies that ring throughout the record, you’re sure to enjoy this one to the fullest no matter the time of day — take a listen to the track here!

A.D. Kessler - “The Spins”

A.D. Kessler, the artistic moniker of Alex Daniel Kessler, makes waves in the music scene with his twist on blues/ragtime influenced jazz music — and on his latest single, “The Spins”, he pushes this envelope even further; with a choppy, complex drum riff holding the track together, Kessler brings his husky, emotive vocals to the fore, creating quite the atmosphere while the electric guitars make for gentle rhythm sections throughout the song. The basses are very well-articulated making for some great play in the low-end, and the mix is solid and highly engaging. Take a listen to the track here!
