Nissu is a Dublin-based singer and songwriter from Brazil, known for his smooth melodies and heartfelt messages of love, acceptance, and equality in his pop love songs — and on his latest single, “Connection”, he presents a tasteful dive into the electro pop sound — keep reading for my thoughts!
With the hordes of electronic pop music flowing through the airwaves today, it becomes difficult for an artist to truly stand out in terms of their sound — however, seeing the opportunity, Nissu makes a high-energy, distinctive flavour of his own, with the kick of progressive house music (get it?) coupled with the excellent articulation in the basses that makes for a groove unforgettable from the first bar. The basses breathe life into the mix with their excellent articulation, embellishment, and overall execution.
That’s not to, however, say that the rest of the ensemble remains lacking — it very well does not! With fun, atmospheric synths in the background, and bouncy, fun-sounding arpeggiated synths to accentuate the groove of the basses, the production on this record is stellar; and coupled with the brasses in just the right spots, there’s no denying that this one is the kind to get stuck in your head; and well, deservedly so, I’ll say.
The vocals shine with their layering and execution, and there’s much to appreciate about the mix and the master here, which remain delightful in their energy presentation; the highs are sparkly, the lows are deep and rumbling; and the overall atmosphere, wide and expansive throughout the track. When it comes to the master too, “Connection” shines with its precise, well-controlled sound, making for a rather excellent listen, no holds barred.
All in all, “Connection”, by Nissu: Nissu pulls it off with this one, like always! With excellent energy and a great melody, this is the kind of track to shine on the dance floor — and off it. Take a listen to the track here!
