LITM Pop Picks This Week, featuring Nina Anto, Tara Van and more!

In this edition of LITM Pop Picks, we have Nina Anto, Tara Van and more!

Nina Anto - “Show Me Your Scars”

Nina Anto is a singer and songwriter who heavily plays into the intrigue of music. A human just like us all else, she says, she is — and on her latest single, “Show Me Your Scars”, she brings a fusion of soft-hearted pop with rhymes and verses courtesy of Danny Clvrk. Danny’s rapping interleaves the main melodic performance by Nina, which is executed rather well here, from her soulful singing and harmonies, to the cadence of Danny’s rapping. The vocals are soft-natured and rich with harmonies, together making for a soft, comforting listen that also has just the right amount of energy to pep you up. Take a listen to the track here!

Tara Van - “Sunshine’s Callin”

A passionate songwriter, Tara Van brings her own twist to pop music with her peppy, upbeat rhythms interplayed with her energetic, fun loving themes and zesty vocal delivery. On her latest single, “Sunshine’s Callin”, she brings her signature zest to the mic — be it the electronic influences in the production, or the choir-like vocal harmonies, every running second of this track screams positive, radiant energy, making for a great, uplifting listen. The mix and master are tight with great control in the lows, further lending a good bit of polish to this track. Take a listen to it here!

Joyce Tratnyek - “Still”

20-year-old NYC-based singer/songwriter/producer Joyce Tratnyek crafts heartfelt shoegaze-pop that tells emotive stories, reflecting her journey as a sensitive, LGBT+ artist navigating the world — and on her latest single, “Still”, she brings the sober melancholy and poignance of shoegaze pop, and gives it a bit of a twist with her raw, emotive singing that moves gracefully in shuffle with the vast, wide guitars in the background. With creative mixing and production thrown in the mix (if you can excuse my pun), there’s a lot of character to this ensemble, and they all contribute to a sweet listening experience. Ado Drix - “Slidin”

Bursting onto the scene with his raw power in his lyricism and flows, Ado Drix dropped it like its hot with his first ever singles, like “Self Inflicted Trauma”, and “Suffocate” — and on his latest, “Slidin”, he continues his flawless vocal delivery laid atop dark, groovy hip-hop beats. Ado Drix’s ad-libs are of particular focus here in their innovative approach, while Ado delivers cold, icy lines with his multi-line, complex rhyming schemes that adopt an aggressive four-for flow. There’s great bounce in the hi-hats, while the bass rumbles deep, playing great contrast to the gentle, distant pianos that chime in the mix. Take a listen to the track here!

Alicia Daydreams - “Knock on my Door”

At the tender age of 16, US-based singer and songwriter Alicia Daydreams brings the kind of talent that would put a lot of older people to shame -- with multiple successful releases under her belt, she's poised and making moves faster than ever with her latest single, "Knock On My Door”; a soft-natured, easygoing track that digs deep to find the perfect sounds, and executes it with finesse. As she slides up and down the registers with excellent control, the song turns into a beautifully painted canvas, and Alicia doesn't spare efforts to make the listen better; to much success, I'll say, with her vocal harmonies that find themselves tight in the mix, and the gentle rise in energy come the chorus. All in all, a delightful listen! Check it out here:
