In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we bring you the newest from Blackpool Mecca, The Project and more!

Blackpool Mecca - “Pavement”

Blackpool Mecca, a Nashville-based rock duo, infuses grunge, pop, and indie rock in electrifying performances. Their hits like "Boys" and "Peach Smoke" showcase their captivating style and growing acclaim. On their latest single, “Pavement”, they bring a harder, more experimental classic rock-and-roll sound to the fore, which they excel at presenting; right from the drumming that keeps swift and precise time, to the heavily processed guitars with their creamy, fuzzy distortion, the ensemble is a runaway success; and the vocals with their thrashy, powerful style wrap things up in style. While looking forward to what’s next, check out their track here!

ScreamingMechanicalBrain - “Connie Was A Reptile”

ScreamingMechanicalBrain’s live performances fuse pounding rhythms, cyclonic guitars, and soulful vocals, promising an unforgettable experience. 2024 brings ambitious plans, including expansive songs and captivating short films— and part of that is their latest single, “Connie Was A Reptile”— and as we start listening to the song, the energy dynamic of the track is something to quite admire, with its dynamics and the excellent energy control, especially in the choruses and the refrains that come after— dallying between a delicate blend of laid-back, reserved verse and explosive power, with a balanced mix to wrap things up. Check out the track here!

William Hamilton Tylander III - “Pull Out”

William Hamilton Tylander III finds himself in the middle of swimming post-punk, classic rock rhythms; and in his talents as a composer and lyricist, he brings his very best in his latest single, “Pull Out”; made in collaboration with Per Gerhard Joergensen, this track brings a very Type O Negative, hard rock sound blended with clean vocals; the aggressive, overdriven guitars in the background play perfectly with William’s clean vocal delivery; while the screeches and the crashes on the drums add another element of steely, icy aggression to the track. The song wraps up with an elongated scream that solidifies the intent of the track— pure power. Take a listen to the track here!

The Project is the brainchild of James Davis, once lead guitarist of the acclaimed band Shameless. Having garnered numerous awards in the Cali-rock scene, Davis is now forging a new path, blending pop influences with metal on his new journey— and on their latest single, “All I Ever Needed”, they bring a feel-good rock number with wholesome messages of love and yearning— and while at it, the signature high-energy sound of The Project shines through effortlessly, with their zesty vocals sprinkled with a dash of harmony to stitch things together well.
