LITM Rock Picks This Week: The best of Wyly Bigger, and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we bring the best of Wyly Bigger, and more!

Wyly Bigger - “Broken Telephone”

Growing up, Wyly was steeped in the legends of rock 'n' roll and blues, drawing inspiration from icons like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, and Otis Redding. His title single from his latest album, “Broken Telephone”, makes light work of Ccombining the Memphis sound with blues piano influences, which are apparent from the word go — while his vocals capture the essence of soul and RnB just about perfectly. There’s also much to appreciate about the brasses and the basses in the performance, each yielding their own dimension to the warm, welcoming guitars and the downtempo drumming. Hearts - “FOMO”

Built and united upon a passion for live performances, the lineup of Hearts have made a splash on the Swedish/UK music scene lately — and with their latest single, “FOMO”, they aim to keep the good thing going. Forming part of “EP2”, “FOMO” captures the vibe of late-night concerts underneath starlit skies perfectly; be it the warm, reverberating guitars, or the memorable, infectious melodies, this song really does have it all — and wraps things up excellently well to make for a rewarding, memorable listen from start to finish. The mix is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere, magnetic. Take a listen here!

Zelda Mab - “Elettricità”

Milanese DIY artist and producer Zelda Mab, (real name Gloria Abbondi), seeks out the boring and the patterned; a thorough experimenter, she brings her latest to the table on “Elettricità”. A blast from start to finish, her melodious vocals take the centre stage amidst instruments that sway from genres of rock and roll to pop punk reminiscent of Paramore. With express cadence in the drumming and great vibes and energy in the production, this single is sure to charm and elicit repeats. Couple this with a bold and energetic mix that places her vocals front and centre, and you have a rewarding listen. Check out the track here!

Waverly Drive - “Taste of Love”

Chicago-born and Los Angeles-based artist Waverly Drive brings a delightfully retrowave twist to their pop sound, and have been honing their sound for a while; and their latest single, “Taste of Love”, is testament to that. Forming part of an album titled “Push My Luck”, the synthwave influence is there from the very beginning; and as the sound evolves with its various layers, the detailed production takes the thunder. With great vocal harmonies and bright, cheery synths punctuating the gentle, flowing vocals, there’s much to love about this track from all aspects possible. Take a listen to this track here!

Rome Mayes - “C’mon Baby”

Hailing from the prairies of Canada, Romi Mayes is an award-winning independent musician known for her sweet and raspy vocals, finely-tuned edgy songwriting, and relentless dedication to the global music scene. On her latest single, “C’mon Baby”, she steals hearts with her gentle ways of delivering electric energy — let the groove in the start of the song not make you mistake it for yet another number. The minute her vocals take over, you know you’re in for a treat of a performance; with the instruments almost perfectly mould to her vocal texture, as she explores catchy lines and sweeps across registers with much aplomb. The solo in the mingle of the song is also quite expertly done, adding to the fervour this song brings. Take a listen to the track here!
