Madame Psychosis - “Charlie’s Story”
Hailing from Toronto, Madame Psychosis has been a steadfast presence in the city’s thriving music scene for nearly a decade, drawing audiences with their genre-blending indie rock — and on their latest single, “Charlie’s Story”, they bring out an upbeat, energetic sound that does not fail to impress from start to finish. Louie & The Flashbombs - “The Lucky Ones”
Powered by Louie Lucchesi’s unmistakable voice, Louie & The Flashbombs blend 1970s New York City rock and hooky alternative pop, with a lineup featuring notable Milwaukee musicians and original songs — and on their latest single, “The Lucky Ones”, they blend the best of whiskey jazz and classic rock sounds to bring a relaxing, high-spirited listen punctuated by the vocal lines, the powerful singing, and the slow, collected drumming performance. There is also much to appreciate about the melodic writing on this song, which finds itself traversing a rather interesting journey, taking the listener alongside. Check out the track here!
Baby Grendel - “Blood Brother”
Baby Grendel (formerly Small Town Sci-Fi) showcases the combined energies of Jonathan Suarez, an experimental artist from Salinas, California, and Joe Mengis, a powerhouse drummer from Portland. “Blood Brother”, their latest single, forms part of their eponymous debut album, and captures the sound of downtempo, lo-fi rock in an interpretation that comes off as serene, and enjoyable. The vocals charm with their gentle ways, while delivering soulful messages amidst warm, welcoming piano chords. The guitars and the synths, too, play great support; and in the gentle outro, let you go slowly; making this an enjoyable listen. Check out the track here!
Thee Mighty Saint Pancras - “Lucky Jim”
Thee Mighty Saint Pancras, a 4-piece rock punk post beat band from London, blend hard riffing and driving rhythms with frontman Peter Cornelius Ford's charismatic quirk — all while bringing that classic London rock sound to the table on their latest single, “Lucky Jim”. Right from the start of the track, you have an energetic, uptempo rock sound that brings the best of festive sounds, high energies, and entertaining stories — couple this with a compelling guitar performance and some positively great vocals, and you have yourself the perfect listen for road-goers on the motorways. The mix is tight, and the expanse in the mix further contributes to the great atmosphere . Check out the track here!
Black Magick Marching Band - “Wasteland II”
Black Magick Marching Band delivers, in their own words, “mildly psychedelic retro music”, straight from Chicago, IL — the place where good music used to be, and continues to be made. Their latest single, “Wasteland II”, forms part of their EP, “Slouching Toward Babylon”— and brings all the rustic charm of vinyl, the crackle of tape machines and saturated guitars — all while blending the instruments into a cohesive, mildly haunting, introspective melodic performance. The vocals play excellently into the mix as well, which is rather accurately retro-sounding, with its lo-fi approach flowing in between the instruments. Take a listen to the track here!
