In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we bring to you the very best from Mercurius, RNT and more!
Mercurius - “Evocation”
Mercurius is a family duo with James as the vocalist and Paul as the lead guitarist, crafting songs together for years, blending diverse sounds to create uniquely individual tracks— and on their latest single, “Evocation”, they bring a ballad-like twist to conventional rock tunes — all while accomplishing their vision of bringing in the vibes; the harmonies on the vocals are particularly noteworthy with their sky-high registers, playing perfectly with the lead guitars in the background and the express, evocative drumming. The mix and master wraps things up beautifully with a driving, engaging sound; Take a listen to the track here!
RNT Reynald n’ Trio - “Pin’up”
A rock project led by Reynald Chivot, RNT (Reynald n’ Trio) aim to bring a fun, high-energy take on rock music, filled with chugging guitars, cheery melodies and great drum chops; and it all comes together on their latest single, “Pin’up”. The song follows quite the interesting structure, letting the percussion centre around the rest of the track, guiding it along gently with its pulse, while the guitars incite utter mayhem in the solos; and the vocals keep the energy flowing in oodles all throughout. The production is particularly noteworthy for its panache and balance between fluidity and aggression, and makes for a rewarding, engaging listen overall. Check out the track here!
Dingo Dango - “Bad Luck Curse”
Dingo Dango is a band from Columbus, Ohio, comprised of a 4-piece, bringing the feel-good of fuzzy basses, overdriven guitars and grunge-rock vocals to the scene with their latest single, “Bad Luck Curse”. All throughout the song, one is reminded of the golden era of grunge in the 1990s; for the presentation by itself is raw and unfiltered— by design, I venture to say; there is much to appreciate about the melodic writing here, with its deep and layered melodies that keep the listener bobbing their heads and playing imaginary air guitars throughout. The basses add to the raw punch of the song with their present, potent sound that serves as the foundation for the mix. All in all, a great listen! Check it out here:
Dirty Mitts - “Electric Kid”
Bringing the twang of country rock and classic rock and roll, Dirty Mitts, a dynamic four-piece band hailing from the UK, Poland, and Egypt, blend classic Rock'n'Roll with bluesy vibes and energetic tunes— with their thumping rhythms and silky vocals, they bring us their best on their latest, “Electric Kid”; a fiesta of slow blues-infused rock that checks all the right boxes; from the slow, downtempo feel of the track, to the grit and power in the vocals, this song has it all; while the solo guitars and the drumming remains in clockwork precision, keeping up with one another in lockstep throughout the song. Check it out here!
Liz Nash - “Boo Boo Betty”
Liz Nash, a singer/songwriter from New York, stitches together Americana tales through her original songs, earning recognition in HBO, Delta Airlines, and "Billboard," with roots tracing back to childhood fascination with folk music. On her latest, “Boo Boo Betty”, she brings her idyllic, relaxed vocals together with powerful guitars and basses to weave a tale like not another; with the gentle manner of the energy throughout the song, the execution of the song is par excellence, and remains entertaining from start to finish. The mix is tight, too, with focus on Liz’s vocals, which are presented in their full clarity and presence, making for a song that one struggles to not sing along to. Check it out here!
