Carpe Diem has been making waves in the industry lately, as the two-piece between a guitarist and a vocalist brings us tunes that tell beautiful stories, interwoven in heartfelt melodies. On their latest single, “Nature Odyssey”, there is an atmosphere of calm and serenity right from the opening notes, bringing the harmony and serendipity one experiences in nature, and putting it on the centre of the stage for pure listening joy and wonder. The vocalist does a job par excellence with her mid-register singing, as she exhibits excellent control over her voice and plays perfectly into the rest of the ensemble. Check out the track here!
Brian Loyde - “Daughter Makes The Man”
The story behind Brian Loyde’s latest single, “Daughter Makes The Man” is one of intrigue— with as brief but as impactful a story as a musician can have behind their motivation for penning a melody. Dedicated to his daughter, this song is a beautiful display of unfettered, unconditional love for that special somebody. The vocals are simple, straight, and charming in their own way as they convey the emotion behind the lyrics succinctly and retain oodles of grace while at it. The rest of the production has acoustic and electric guitars that also contribute great harmonies and counter-melodies, and all in all, this track is a charming, heartwarming listen. Sasha Bayan - “lucid”
Forming part of his latest album, “enough”, singer-songwriter Sasha Bayan weaves pure wizardry into his lines and melodies on the single “lucid”. From the deeply introspective, self-questioning lyrics to the ominous, grandiose dark energy that oozes from the track the minute you play it, what ensues for the next four-odd minutes is pure emotion and catharsis. Couple this with the deep, intricate and richly layered production, and you have a recipe for a song that leaves the kind of impact that one wouldn’t know they had the room for— and if that isn’t the hallmark of good songwriting, I sincerely know not what is.
