Katie Curley - “Big Colored Lights”
Katie Curley, known for her crystalline vocals and poignant songwriting, redefines Christmas music with her latest EP, “Big Colored Lights” — of which, the title track we look at today. From the start of the track, the unique vocal timbre of Katie stands out with its childlike innocence, while she retains excellent control over her notes and lines. The guitars play excellent support with the drums, gently lulling the listener into a peaceful state of mind, while the lyrics are superbly written. All in all, a winner of a track with a solid production and master! Check it out here:
Jordan Olympus - “Whine”
Jordan Olympus, a French-Malagasy singer-songwriter recognized for his contributions to music, blends pop and R'n'B influences in his music — and on his latest single, “Whine”, he presents a slow, sensual sound with his afro-inspired sound; with lyrics that would remind you of good hip-hop, the charm to this track is very present — and that’s made one better by the vocals. The singing blends effortlessly with the rest of the ensemble, while the ad-libs elevate the listener even further to the rhythm. All in all, a winner of a track! Check it out here:
Melanie A. Davis - “Noctalgia”
Hailing from Murray, KY, Melanie A. Davis blends alt-folk with poetic lyricism and fingerstyle guitar, drawing inspiration from legends like Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. On her latest single, “Noctalgia”, she presents a sound that’s full of charm and giving — from the blues-inspired sound in the instrumentals to the Bossa Nova sound to her vocals, there’s an unmistakable charisma to this track that will leave you singing and humming along before long. Couple with this a production effort that’s well worth the props, and you win scores on this track! Check out the track here:
Luke Borchelt - “Every Rain”
Luke Borchelt, a self-taught country singer-songwriter from Maryland, blends country roots with DMV hip-hop influences in his unique sound. His music is a blend of influences, with tinges of country, folk, and pop — and his latest single, “Every Rain”, he brings his voice to the centre stage, supported by only gentle acoustic guitars as he tells a story with grace and poise. The vocal processing is unique here, lending itself to a distinctive sound signature that works beautifully with the track. With lyrics that hit deep and a mix that bares the best of Luke’s talents, this is a track to look forward to! Check it out here:
Resonance - “Anchor”
Resonance is a musical project composed of Ali John Meredith-Lacey and Ed Tullett — and they, together, bring music that soothes the soul with its heavenly arias and operatic sounds; on their latest single, “Anchor”, the vocal performance instantly steals the show with its glassy, angelic sound — and as the harmonies come together, this track weaves magic out of thin, air, seemingly, as the chorus sections settle you into a feeling of wonder, amazement and contentment; with a mix that bathes the vocals in just enough reverb, and puts the voices together rather sweetly, this track is one not to miss for sure!
