Sarah Brown is a Buffy-loving, Cardiff-based pop singer who has been championed by BBC Introducing and has had a Top 10 hit on iTunes. Her latest track, ‘Fool For Love’, is a soulful release that touches on topics we can all relate to. I took the time to chat to Sarah about this – and much more!

Lewis) What was your inspiration for ‘Fool For Love’?
Sarah) ‘Fool For Love’ was inspired by an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (big fan!). The episode centres around the character Spike who is a badass vampire but, as he's telling his story, you realise that he is pretty broken inside and the bad guy thing is all an act. It made me look at myself and realise that I was doing the same. I think we all put on a bit of a front sometimes and that’s what the song is about.
How does your Cardiff base affect your writing?
Wales is so beautiful and I live in an area with gorgeous views and sunsets. Quite often, when I'm driving home, ideas start forming. I get most of my song ideas when I'm driving on the open road.
What are you goals for this year?
More music and my first hometown show.
Who are you listening to right now?
A lot of Ariana Grande (I'm obsessed) and also Nina Nesbitt, Grace Carter and RuthAnne.
If you could curate a festival, who would the three headliners be?
Ariana, cos surely I'd get to hang out with her if I booked her, right? Christina Aguilera cos I just want to hear that voice live! And Eminem, I know every word to every one of his songs and I'd put myself as his hype man.
Anything else we should keep our eye out for this year?
More music – the next single is coming in October. :)
