Chris) Hi Lizabeth, tell us where you’re based.
Lizabeth) I’m out of San Diego right now but am originally from Chicago
If you were to be placed in a record collection, which artists would like to be filed alongside and why?
I’d like to think that I’d be hanging out next to Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote, Otis Redding and Norah Jones. First of all, I think it would be a really good party with all of us hanging out next to each other, but my music has also been compared to each of them recently. I love old soul and neo-soul and everything in between.
How long have you been making music and what drew you to it?
I’ve been singing since before I can remember and playing guitar and writing songs for about 10 years now. Music has saved my life many times. Ultimately, it’s what makes life feel like it’s worth living to me. Music allows me to communicate with people and the world in a way that nothing does.
What's happening over the rest of the year?
I’m getting ready to start graduate school for creative writing and will be playing in San Diego and Los Angeles for the rest of the year. I’ll also be booking a short tour in England, France and Spain for summer 2020!
Any of the upcoming gigs you’re particularly looking forward to?
I’ll be having a rooftop single release party/show on September 20th in San Diego.
Which other artists are on your radar right now?
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Emily King, Aloe Blacc, Alan Stone, Bad Bad Not Good and Hiatus Kaiyote. They’re all stellar artists that I’d be thrilled to sing backing vocals for!
