Focus of ever-increasing clamour on the capital’s live circuit, South London songstress Aadae brings the classic afro-funk and high-life vibes of her Nigerian heritage into play on a set of triumphant nu-soul cuts. Her debut EP, ‘Agape’, is out next month, and from it ‘Flatline (Make Me Lose My Mind)’ is an A-grade example of her poppy nous and vocal authority, as she commands a delightful afrobeat shuffle set off by bubbling synth bass and nibbles of guitar. Her chorus refrain – check the parentheses of the title – is an instant sonic implant, enhanced by gleaming horns stabs as well as the general positive momentum that looks set to further catch the ear of the many in the months to come.
‘Agape’ is out on 10 November
