Words by Tim Hakki @TimHakki
Starting with the same chord progression and strum pattern as Nirvana’s ‘About A Girl’ (written after Cobain spent an evening listening to Meet The Beatles! on repeat), Jack River’s ‘Palo Alto’ makes no attempt to hide its jangle pop aspirations. Over the course of three minutes she channels guitar pop vibes from every decade up to the noughties. Most impressively, it all sounds coherent and joyous. All the more reason to keep a watchful eye on this aussie newcomer.
Jack River's debut EP Highway Songs No. 2 is out on October 7
