London-based dark wave band Goldrain have dropped their first track ‘Dragonfly’. Which is the first single to promote their debut EP ‘Mysteries’ .

This quirky three-piece consists of Barbs Dudek on vocals and keys, Owen Smalley on the guitar and Harry Moore on drums. Goldrain give of this fresh dose of infectious energy. Being fairly new into the music scene, they have come through with an outstanding piece of music that shows just how much they’re going to excel in this industry.

Embracing their dark wave sound, but not shying away from exploring different routes with their sound. Adding in those classic rock, indie pop and low-fi elements and letting them all intertwine together to create this compelling piece of music. Whilst also showing that they can incorporate many varieties of sound and completely smashing it.

Barbs has such an incredible voice and one that instantly gets the listener hooked within seconds. It has this rather brittle texture and it’s so soothing to listen too. With the range of tones that she explores throughout, keeping the pace steady and really coming through with these enticing vocals.

The instrumentation is another key highlight with the way it combines perfectly with the vocals. Keeping it at a slow pace and gradually building up the tempo as the chorus begins to come in. Combining them slow and upbeat drum beats, to the soft plucks on the guitar strings to then adding in a more harsh riff towards the end. Then adding to that is the funky style tunes on the keys pulling each element together to create this catchy and distinctive sound.
