Lara Eidi Elates With Latest Cosmopolitan Folk Album, 'Sun'

Singer-songwriter Lara Eidi dilates the spheres of life with her uplifting and inspiring tracks. Her release, Breathe Love, earlier this year introduced her debut album, Sun. The collection of eight songs are delightful electric-acoustic hybrids teetering on the edge of cosmopolitan folk and modern blues. Across the collection, her presentations remind one of modern-day Joni Mitchell, mellow Janis Joplin, and a revived Amy Winehouse. The contemporary synths are tempered by blooms of neo-classicals, orchestral instrumentation, blues, rock, and soul. Listen Now!

The album opens with ‘Breathe Love’, a beat-driven track sparkling with piano acoustics and sunny vocals. It is designed to inspire positive contemplations, to draw out thoughts outward to fathom the grandeur of life, love, and happiness. ‘Tide’ winks with acoustic strings and lilting acapella accents. Merging sound textures and energies, Lara invokes a voice-instrumentation continuum. It has a dominant folk personality, spruced with highland mystique and folklore.

‘Hello Gravity’ follows with extrapolated blues. Jazzy beats and drizzling acoustics carry the free-flowing vocals through. The verses urge the listener to sink into consciousness, let the gravity of thoughts, fears and feelings be a teaching force. ‘Damien’ is set up with romantic piano melodies, elated by sweet hums, its mellifluous bleeds will get you through a troubled time. Evasive blues intermingle with orchestral violin shavings and oozing basslines.

‘Hang On’ is strung with ascending dots of piano melodies and a vocal swish. She hangs on the facets of strength into the song like a painter hangs the moon. It is elegantly and beautifully written to elevate the listener from a defeated mind. ‘Forgive’ is up next, shimmering in an acoustic couture. This rendition is sparked with lazy blues before swelling into a smoky sphere of soul.

The title track is penultimately placed. Acapella accents and blues vocals make a comeback. The vocals have a theatrical flair that is progressively infused into leaves of folk acoustics and orchestral instrumentation. Its seamless fusions are insightfully done, aligning diverse sonic concepts and allures to frame a cohesive theme. Finally, ‘Maybe Then’ - a transcendental and ethereal sonic space. It ebbs and flows with free-form vocals that defy spatial and rhythmic fetters.

Reflecting, growing, and moving forward are ongoing throughout this album. Underpinned by constructs like freedom, peace, and happiness, it lavishes the listener with the promise of the world if they are brave enough to seek it out.

The album is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
