Jon Brændsgaard Toft - “Brick By Brick”
Jon Brændsgaard Toft is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose musical journey began in the 90s, evolving from MIDI compositions, and culminating in his 2023 prog rock album Brick By Brick - of which the title track is a moving journey through mellow, sober landscapes with powerful lyrical themes that make you sway as much as they make you think. With gentle electric guitars and soulful harmonies in the vocal performance, this track is worth every penny a listen. OurGlassZoo - “Shut Up”
OurGlassZoo is a Vancouver-based band fusing electronic rock and synth-pop, known for their signature blends that have won international acclaim — and on their latest track, “Shut Up”, they bring a grunge rock sound, fusing it with a punk rock sound, and a driving, groovy set of guitars that carry the rhythm of the song much life. The drumming is well-controlled and shows off the precision of the mix quite well, while the vocals are sure to uplift with their energetic, well-done delivery. Those Heavy Souls - “How High’s Too High?”
Those Heavy Souls is the solo project of Cardiff-based artist Craig Lewis, formerly the frontman of an indie-rock band — and since he’s gone solo, he’s been perfecting his blend of thoughtful rock tracks that exude passion and polish — and on his latest track, “How High’s Too High?”, he brings an electronic-fused synth-rock number that would throw you right back to the drum-and-bass rock era. With creative mixing galore throughout the track, the energy balance is immaculate as he moves effortlessly from verse to chorus, and then some more. All in all, a winner! Mortal Prophets - “Flowers For You”
Mortal Prophets, led by John Beckmann, is a genre-defying band that blends the primal essence of pre-war blues with the experimental edge of German electronica, creating a haunting, apocalyptic soundscape on their latest track, “Flowers For You”. Teeming with the essences of industrial metal and nu-metal, the band give it a twist that’s excellently executed throughout, from the synths that fill the soundscapes, to the effortless transitions between sections of the song that will leave you hankering for the repeat button more than you’re willing to admit; all in all, a banger listen! SCREENS - “Shades of Blue”
SCREENS is a Tel-Aviv-based post-punk trio formed in 2019, known for their fusion of hard-hitting riffs with traditional Mediterranean melodies — and on their latest single, “Shades of Blue”, they bring a sound that’s filled with deep, rumbling basses and thundering drums reminiscent of early heavy metal — with a great atmosphere that evolves through the song and screaming lead guitars adding to the ominous atmosphere of the track, this track builds the chaos and energy, and does it fast — and topped off with the vocal performance, this track truly presents it all — take a listen to the track here!
