LITM Rock Picks brings invigorating tunes from artists like Voodoo Bloo and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we curate a mix of artists like Voodoo Bloo and more!

Voodoo Bloo - “I Don’t Want This Scene To End - Radio Edit”

Voodoo Bloo, an energetic indie rock band from New Zealand, blend high-energy rock grooves with approachable, repeatable lyrics and a twang that is quite distinctive in its Kiwi roots — and on their latest single, “I Don’t Want This Scene To End - Radio Edit”, they blend infectious guitars with a vocal style that is perfect for the job at hand; while the thumping drums get you grooving from bar one, the steady ring of the guitars around the brilliant vocals will have you smiling ear to ear in no time. With a mix and master to match the infectious energy, this one is a winner. Take a listen to the track here!

Nuke The Soup - “Bugs”

The project of composer Mark Edward Davison, Nuke The Soup bring a playful, retro-laden sound to their upbeat pop rock sound, and on their latest single, “Bugs”, they bring the old-world charm of the palm-muted guitar, staccato riffing, and Mellotron magic and throw in a side of great vocals for good measure. The instrumental is phenomenal in its light, airy energy, and the singing dances upon the three of the metronome like a hockey puck gliding across ice; and this is topped off by some serious chops in the percussion department; all in all, brilliant work! The House Flies - “Queen Underground”

A passion project of singer and compose Alex Riggen, The House Flies pride themselves on minimal, groovy hard rock — and on their latest single, “Queen Underground”, they bring creamy, distorted guitars together with their minimalistic, elegant drumming; and with a whispered, husky vocal delivery, there’s much to catch your groove from the very start of the song. While the guitars play perfect accompaniment during the verses, they come into their own in the hooks, which, for the most part, place the focus on the guitars, being devoid of lyrics; all in all, an interesting take on grunge rock! Khaïr - “Always”

French artist Khaïr defies genres, blending rock with Eastern influences in his critically acclaimed sound — right from his album “Arabic Wisdom” to his latest single, “Always”, he’s constantly pushing and redefining his envelope; and this track is filled with organic percussion and brilliant sound design paving the foundation for an absolutely electric rock groove; right from his gruff vocals to the chugging guitars, the sound design holds things together effortlessly; while the wide expanse of the mix will surely bring a whole lot of ear candy. All in all, a very solid listen! Take a listen to the track here!

Florida - “Decap”

Rock outfit Florida is the project of composer and lyricist William Robert Summer — blending sunset rock tunes with a retro feel, he presents his latest album, “Metal Detector” — and forming part of it is the single, “Decap”; a beautifully executed grunge rock number with just the right amount of mellow to turn the scene technicolor and just enough punk and grunge to be the renegade adjacent. With influences from garage rock and shoegaze punk all over this track, there’s no shortage of energy or articulation in the brilliant solo, making for one hell of a listen.
