LITM Rock Picks This Week: The Harbours and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we curate a mix of artists like The Harbours, and more!

The Harbours - “So Sweet”

The Harbours, an exciting 2-piece indie pop band from Leicestershire, are making waves with their latest single, “So Sweet” — bringing a gentle, sweeping sound through and through, this track is a peach to listen to from start to end; while Ollie charms with bass and vocals, the guitars are a standout of this track with the rhythm sections and the brilliant solo courtesy of Will on the electrics; and the execution is sweet, has a great sound to it, and leaves you with a smile on your face. All in all, a solid, enjoyable listen! Take a listen to the track here:

Angerland - “Neon Dead”

London-based Angerland unleash their explosive sound through their music — blending elements from Killing Joke and Ruts DC to create a fearlessly powerful hard rock/heavy metal sound, their latest single, “Neon Dead” will have you head banging and grooving from start to end. From the sky-high vocals to the powerful guitars in the background, there’s much to appreciate about the execution here; while the drumming keeps deft cadence, the bass-playing grooves things along brilliantly. Couple this with a tight, aggressive mix and master, and you have an aggressive, angry soundscape that just begs you to turn the volume knob up higher and higher. Take a listen to the track here!

Urban Walrus - “Not Today”

Urban Walrus, fresh from an intense 6-month world tour through the pubs and shady bars of New York, Amsterdam, and Zurich, returns to the studio with their latest single, “Not Today” — this one being decidedly more melodically inclined a track, there’s much to appreciate about the singing, with the perfect amounts of clean and gruff singing. The guitars play excellent support as the writing shines in its emotive impact, and the quieter sections that dot the verses make this track an enthused, engaging listen. Take this and wrap it in a tight, precise mix, and you have an expansive soundstage that doesn’t fail to feed your ears something to much on — take a listen to the track here!

Marky Wildtype - “Ship of Theseus”

Edinburgh-based songwriter, musician, and producer Marky Wildtype, known for his buzzsaw guitar in The Jig Show, presents his latest album, “If Destroyed Still True”; and we have a track from the album, “Ship Of Theseus”; a wafting, cinematic rock number with gentle, sweeping strings and a downtempo rock drum riff that takes the listener on an introspective, emotionally deep journey. In true Marky Wildtype style, the storytelling shines here with well-crafted, superbly executed lyrics; and a production to top it off quite nicely, with the synths, the icy high pianos and the beautiful guitar riffs and motifs. Take a listen to the album here!

Jem Doulton - “Deal Of The Century”

London musician Jem Doulton, known for his work with The Thurston Moore Group, Too Many Things, Pando Pando, and more, brings a dynamic sound to his latest track, “Deal Of The Century”; with his half-spoken, half-sung vocal style, he creates just enough shovers down one’s spine as he sets up quite the ominous atmosphere right from the get go. With the synths lingering in the background soundtracking the slow, heavy bass-playing and the drumming, this track has everything it takes to make for an engaging, impactful listen. Couple that with the exceptionally wide and well-spaced mix, and you have yourself a winner! Take a listen to the track here:
