LITM Rock Picks This Week: Monrad and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we curate a mix of artists like Monrad and more!

Monrad - “The Game”

Monrad is the solo project of Matthew Ramon, blending reverb-drenched surf punk with dark, atmospheric rock and spaghetti western influences; and on their latest single, “The Game”, they bring the beauty of atmospheric rock in an easy to listen, carefree sounding package. The guitars charm with their reverbed, ambient sound, while Matthew’s vocals take on a baritone, rumbling avatar that sounds about perfect for the storytelling nature of the song. As the song goes on, the melodies and motifs evolve quite beautifully, resulting in a fun, engaging, and memorable listen that is executed really well. Take a listen to the track here!

Max Rêve - “Falling”

An ambient rock artist that finds pride in transporting listeners to ethereal soundscapes, songwriter Max Rêve experiments with a brand of trippy, atmospheric rock that sounds quite unique — and on his latest single, “Falling”, he brings the beauty of trippy, psychedelic synths together with his lo-fi flanged guitars to create a track that doesn’t take long for you to start bobbing your head to the rhythm; with its downtempo, gentle ways, and the soothing vocals, there’s excellent balance in the energy of the song as it proceeds, culminating in a higher energy chorus with nicely written melodies and counter melodies that guarantee a rewarding listen, all in all. Couple this with an avant-garde mix and master, and you have one unit of a track — take a listen to the track here!

Divine Nation - “Enchantment”

Bringing a brand of easygoing surf rock, blending jazz and blues elements into their music, Divine Nation present their latest single, “Enchantment” — a package of slow, moving rock music that’s dotted by the bass line as it gently sets the rhythm and the cadence of the track. As the guitars slowly introduce themselves into the mix, the vocals hold the track steadily moving forth as the chords explore unconventional tonics, subtle syncopation and overall great experimentation. All in all, a beautiful listen that captures and keeps the attention of the listener laser-focused on the tunes; check out the track here!

Easy Tears - “The Avenue”

Easy Tears is the reverb-soaked project of Lewis Goswell, blending eighties-inspired ambience with nostalgic, guitar-driven storytelling — and on his debut single, “The Avenue”, he brings a nostalgic, delightfully warm sound to the fore that would remind one of the ballads by Prince, and such other greats. Telling a story of the progression of a moonlit night, the elements come together with poise and such charm and grace, and the vocals suit the track rather perfectly. The inclusion of warm synth pads into the mix only serve to elevate the track further, coming together in a runaway win of a track. Take a listen to the track here!

Harry Happen - “Cool Down”

Harry Kappen is a Dutch multi-instrumentalist and music therapist whose eclectic compositions blend catchy pop, solid guitar rock, smooth ballads, and classical elements, and on his latest single, “Coll Down”, he brings the signature David Bowie sound with his own musical style to craft a ballad that’s spellbinding from right the first second; telling stories of inspiration and reflection of self, Harry makes excellent use of tension hanging in the air courtesy of the pianos, and blends it with a fun, uptempo guitar serenade that’s a charm to listen to from beginning to end.
