LITM Singer-Songwriter Picks This Week: OXLIP and more!

This week’s edition of LITM Singer-Songwriter Picks includes performances from OXLIP and more!

OXLIP - “Gallows Hill”

OXLIP, hailing from Northern Ireland and now based in Venice Beach, CA, challenges norms with her music, blending traditional folk influences into powerful expressions — and on her latest single, “Gallows Hill”, she sings her cheery, playful staccato pianos to the fore with her gentle, easygoing voice that paints rivers of gentle, swirling sound that get stuck in your head before you know it — and once it’s there, it refuses to leave; all for good reason, I’ll say, with the sheer grace with which this track is executed. Overall, there’s just the right amount of drama to keep things exceedingly interesting — and you should check out the track here!

Juliet Ayres - “Pleasure First”

A singer and songwriter who’s constantly experimenting with her sound to bring evolution and change in every track, Juliet Ayres presents her latest single, “Pleasure First”, taking a page out of soul, funk and neo-country music. The basses ring out down under, giving this song a solid bunch of ground to stand on, while the relaxed, laid-back drumming forms the perfect soundtrack to the groovy, jivey pianos in the back. When you couple this with an emotive, powerful vocal performance by Juliet, and you have yourself proper hit material from start to finish. Take a listen to the track here!

Eddie Cohn - “Wave Goodbye - Downtown Session”

Eddie Cohn, a long-time indie-rocker originally from Cleveland and now based in Los Angeles, embodies untapped creative talent and a passion for music that began at age 3 — and on his latest single, “Wave Goodbye - Downtown Session”, he enlists the help of Jake Reed and Brett Farkas to present a revamped, evolved sound that places focus on his soulful, soothing vocals. There’s a lot of emotive expression to lean on here, with great lyrical themes that are supported very nicely indeed by the rest of the ensemble. With a warm, welcoming mix and master, there’s not much that holds this track back at all — take a listen to it here!
