Coma Rossi - “Waves Of Time”
Coma Rossi captures contemplative silence and familiar melancholy with atmospheric, saturated guitars, rich synth textures, and explosive drum sounds; with a proud, imposing atmospheric black metal sound, they bring their latest single, “Waves of Time”; right from the absolutely beautiful tremolo leads, to the poised, great paced drumming, there’s much to appreciate about this track right from the get go. As the clean vocals kick in early, they weave stories with much aplomb; seamlessly blending textures and writing stories with just the melody and rhythms to support. The near 6-minute opus features some of the best melodic writing I’ve seen — and is a nod to some truly great post-rock and metal. Check it out here!
Jake Cassman - “Static On The Radio”
Jake Cassman fuses indie rock energy, power pop melodicism, and Americana's thoughtful songwriting. Since 2013, he's captivated audiences nationwide with eclectic performances and songs that make the intimate epic and the political personal — never once shying away from conventionally sensitive, hushed themes; and on his latest single, “Static On The Radio”, he brings an energetic pop rock sound that finds itself punctuated by an ambient guitar lick that infuses some melodic resolve and tension into the mix, while the drums and the rest of the ensemble sits comfortably on top. Throw in the vocals with their dreamy, ethereal qualities, and you have yourself a listen that’s sure to keep your senses tingling. Check out the track here!
Sarah von Reis - “Friend”
Following her successful 2023 EP Melancholia High Season, Sarah von Reis has cemented her place in modern Swedish pop with experimental, hypnotic vocals, distorted guitars, and piano samples that sound straight out of a tape machine — and on her latest single, “Friends”, she brings her influences from Swedish jazz and indie pop and gives it a whole twist-and-turn with her production, constantly oscillating between a warm golden sound, to a whole experimental, almost whispered sound that tingles just the right corners of the discerning listener’s mind. The energetic lo-fi chorus sections also make for tasteful additions as Sarah presents something truly distinctive and bespoke on this track — check it out here!
Panther Style - “Dynasty”
Panther Style, a Chicago rock band, formed by veterans Jeanne McClure, Al Rodis, Dan Lutger, and Melissa Koehl go the extra mile when it comes to bold, in-your-face rock production and a whole wall of sound before the listener — and on their latest single, “Dynasty”, they bring the whole casserole; from the absolutely infectious guitar solos that dot the song, to the express cadence in the drumming, every bit of this track is packed with power, emphasised further by the vocals that sit beautifully in the mix. Couple this with a great sense of rhythm guitars and drums that turn and dance on a dime, and you have yourself a positive a-plus listen. Take a listen here!
Sweet Unrest - “Falling For You”
Sweet Unrest, formed in 2022, discovered a unique musical concoction, blending psych-garage punk with beautiful melodies. Marlo's ear for bangers complements Jack's broody songwriting, while Tom's punk edge adds urgency, and Dan's drumming drives to catharsis - and on their latest single, “Falling For You”, they bring their wafty, sky-high pads and their dreamy, distinct songwriting to full effect. Right off the bat, there’s polish, and there’s resolve in the drumming — setting a stage like so few others; and coupled with the guitars and the vocals, Sweet Unrest spin up something quite like nothing else on this one.
