Leading on from the first masterpiece we are introduced to “Predict the Outcome”, which draws from the latter half of the opening with a fast-paced tempo and adrenaline-inducing rock rhythms making for a memorable journey. Shifting the pace of this album is “So Emotional” which brings the energy back down and drives itself with a catchy synth-driven electronic melody, making this a standout track in an album full of standouts. “Ten A Penny” is a melancholic ballad that soothes us with its soundscape. Andy’s vocals are amazing throughout this body of work but his vocals carry the soundscape on this offering and he is not afraid to show off his singing chops. “To The Sea” thematically continues the messaging of this album and brings us a welcome injection of progressive folk and acoustic flourishes that garnish this album's first half. Opening the second half of this album is “Foot” and with it, Andy brings a shift in tone with a more whimsical and bass-driven soundscape that raises the energy of this experience. Venturing into experimental territory “The Gallery” and “The Sea and The Ice” harken back to the opening of this album with mystical and dreamy sounds dominating the landscape. Closing out this album is “Dizzy Spell”, which lives up to its name and brings us swirling synth melodies and instrumentation that perfectly encapsulates echoes of the entire album you have listened to so far. This song works amazingly as an independent track, but when put within the context of the album it is elevated to incredible new heights.
Burnt Log has not only mastered songwriting on this album but also the art of production. The techniques and styles Andy has used in this work not only bring us unforgettable sonic journeys but also define the genres that they belong to.
