In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, we bring you the newest from The Almas, Zelma Stone and more!

Alex Gerdt - “Off to See The Sun”

Alex Gerdt, the soulful troubadour from Stockholm, weaves tales of life's highs and lows into melancholic yet hopeful melodies, showcasing his enduring love for guitar and songwriting — and on his latest single, “Off to See The Sun”, he brings us a tune of gentleness, akin to his trademark emotive spirit in songwriting. The gentle acoustics and the pads bring expanse to the sound, while his rich, deeply layered vocals turn this song into a must-listen. Take a listen to the song here!

The Almas - “Crowns”

The Almas, hard rock stalwarts hailing from New Munster, Wisconsin, ignite stages with their electrifying blend of guitar-driven riffs and road-tested passion — their fiery passion showing through on their latest single, “Crowns”; from the minute this song comes on, there is an unmistakable tinge of energy to it that leaves the listener locked into time perfectly while the rums, the vocals and the harmonies take them on an almost otherworldly journey. The vocals are the easy standout here, with excellent control and range, and elevate this song quite beautifully. Check out the track here!

Zelma Stone - “Be Free”

A mainstay of the Bay Area music scene, singer-songwriter Chole Zelma Studebaker, better known as Zelma Stone, brings a gentle, yet complex and layered sound to the fore on her latest single, “Be Free”; filled with chops on the percussion intertwined gently with her heartfelt, almost whisper-like vocals, this song is a masterclass in seamless control in dynamics — right from start to finish. The rest of the ensemble does not break a sweat keeping up with the laid-back, easygoing energy in the vocals, and makes for a beautiful listen that does not forget to experiment in the right places. No See Ums - “Flags”

Brighton's explosive Garage/Punk/Rock supergroup, the No See Ums, take pride in their unabashed commentary, made sterling with satire and quick-punching wit on their latest single, “Flags”. Bringing the best of underground grunge rock to the scene, the whole song embodies the angst, the emotional catharsis one may derive from being the renegade — and it accomplishes it with fervour and finesse.  One also finds themselves appreciating the explosion of energy in the guitars that carries the vibe of the song quite nicely, and we’re left wondering just how good a listen this is. Check it out here!

Garrow Hill - “Call To The Void”

Echoing the bleak urban landscape with their authentic, trend-defying sound, York-based Garrow Hill continue to redefine the meaning of self-exploration with their direct, heartfelt songwriting that spares no metaphor, and on their latest single, “Call To The Void”, they outdo themselves once and again with their finesse and passion. The lyrics are powerful, hit deep, and leave one thinking— with the gentle guitars weep in the background, soundtracking this moment of intense thought that this song evokes in the listener. This track is a true reflection of hope in dystopia, and is an outstanding listen. Check it out here!
