Gary Dranow - “Black Coal Lung”
Gary Dranow brings his signature blues-infused rock, taking elements from jazz, country and ska, and putting them all together for a hit track in “Black Coal Lungs”. The song’s laid-back, delightfully country sound with the instrumentation immediately transports one to a convertible with the roof down, driving off towards the sunset. THe vocals play excellent support to the guitars and the harmonicas, while the drums hold the mix together, delivering punch and clarity. Nero Simon and the Sunsetters - “Mermaids Of Key West”
Forming part of their new album, “Waveland”, Nero Simon and the Sunsetters bring us a fresh, uptempo jive in the form of their latest single, “Mermaids Of Key West”. While maintaining an overall relaxed demeanour and execution, this song also pipes up with some youthful, exuberant energy through its yodelling and drumming, which are highlights of this song. The use of vocal harmonies as support to the guitar parts, solo included, is also quite the unique twist on soft pop rock.
