“Louder Than Sound”, by Blake: A passionate, energetic rock presentation!

Blake is a musician from the United Kingdom who’s steadily been putting out music that’s tinged by, in his words, UK 60s, psychedelic rock, and power pop; and on his latest album, “Louder Than Sound”, he presents a power-packed, energetic rock lineup — keep reading for my thoughts!

Available on Bandcamp as a pre-order, “Louder Than Sound” is a 12-track opus that opens with “She’s Inside My Heart” — a spirited, energetic classic pop rock presentation that charms right from the very start with its guitars and quick-paced drumming amidst the great vocal presentation—and sets the stage for the rest of the tracks to follow.

As we journey on over the course of the album, we encounter tracks like “Lighting Up For You”, which, again, shines with its lyricism and warm, mellow guitars accompanied by a remarkable bass performance. The energy on this track is cooler and calmer, but remains just as spirited and full of intent, as it crafts melodies that are memorable and remain stuck in your head long after the track has come to a close. We then get a move on to “Sharks”, and as the album comes to its midway point with “Coming In From The Cold”, the energy rolls on its high, retaining the charm of the half of the album behind it with pizzazz.

The latter half of “Louder Than Sound” is marked by tracks like “Everything About Her”, soulful, energetic rock presentation that charms from start to finish, and “Slippery Slope” that keeps the fiesta of energy going strong, but with a more acoustic twist with the steely sound of the guitars and more melancholic, introspective storytelling. As we bring the album to a close with “One By One” and “Something Like You”, the album comes full circle in its sound indeed as we’re left hankering for the repeat button to play the whole album all over.

The production on “Louder Than Sound” is an affair with merry, well-written guitars with warm, crunchy tones, and swift, skilled drumming that keeps things delightfully in time and lends it the living breath on this album — and that’s accompanied by a mix and master that renders the atmosphere wide and rich, making for a rewarding listen from start to finish. All in all, a winner of an album! Check it out here:
