LITM Rock Picks this week are moody, atmospheric, romantic, melancholic and so much more. With a wide range of songs and styles, familiarise yourself with the talents of The Buggs, Slumming with The Saints, Logan Chapman, Hendren and The Lonely Together!

The Buggs - Sunny Afternoon

The Buggs with their latest track “Sunny Afternoon” bring an old-school sound that's reminiscent of 60s legends such as The Beatles or The Turtles. Opening on a staccato-like guitar bass riff the song builds an intrigue and anticipation for what's to come right from the jump. The song while slow and atmospheric does live up to the promise of its title with some bright sunny motifs blended into its smooth jazz-like sound. The Buggs are an incredibly talented outfit that makes you nostalgic for a style of music while maintaining their own fresh modern take on it. I loved listening to “Sunny Afternoon” and so will you!

Slumming with The Saints -  Midnight Crisis

Slumming with The Saints have a fresh and distinct soundscape with their music and their song “Midnight Crisis” is ambient and atmospheric with its styling. With a production that bleeds over into the territory of techno-pop, the song defies genre expectations in all the best ways. The vocal performance is unique and excellent with a distorted distant style, it adds to the song's general vibe of feeling like it's always in motion. This song never sits still and is hectic with its dynamic stylings. Slumming with The Saints has crafted an immersive experience with “Mighnight Crisis” that you can't afford to miss!

Logan Chapman - Cocaine Rich

Logan Chapmans “Cocaine Rich” is honest, vulnerable and sombre in its tone. Opening with acoustic chords and gentle singing, the song sets its tone very quickly with its anti-drug message. The song masterfully tells a story about the destructive nature of developing a drug habit. “Cocaine Rich” switches gears and goes into overdrive right after the first minute and a half with an explosion of energy, ditching the purely acoustic instrumentation to bring in electric guitars, drums and synths. Closing as gently as it opened this song's rising and falling energy style gives its an immersion like no other. Logan Chapman has crafted a masterpiece with this track, and you should check it out!

Hendren - Cannot Heal

Hendrens “Cannot Heal” is powerful and frantic, opening on fuzzy and chaotic guitars that move into a slower tempo as the vocals are introduced, the song fully has your attention from the jump. The drumming is slow and authoritative and the vocals are reminiscent of Phil Collins's work in Genesis. This song is also incredibly evocative with the raw emotion barely held uncapped in the heartfelt and passionate singing. “Cannot Heal” is also mixed to perfection with every instrument and element sounding massive and chewing up the ambience. I loved listening to “Cannot Heal” and so will you, so go check it out!

The Lonely Together - Los Angeles

The Lonely Together takes on a captivating journey through the City of Angeles with their gorgeous release “Los Angeles”. The song is full of life and its vibrant edge is cut by a plethora of romanticism and melancholy. Masterfully penned lyrics on this track yearn for a simpler time that has past and the emotional weight of the lyrics can be felt through the music and frontman Baille’s passionate singing. Every part of this song s meticulously crafted to bring you an experience that is mesmerising and transcendent. The Lonely Together are incredible and this song gives you every reason as to why you should be a fan of their music!
