In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, all the rock leads to celebration with catchy and engaging music from The project, Danielle Bloom, John Chamberlain, Kanoo and Teo Salfinger. Feel the rhythm in these tunes here with us!
The project-Over you
Classic Cali-rock always needed a home when pop came in. The project is its new home, and it is a reminder of the retro days that brought in good times. With tons of stage and composition experience, James Davis brought us this, after his popular band Shameless disbanded. It is a reminder to all that live music will live on, and bring in thousands of memories with it. The result of this is a rock song that has all the riffs, the verses and a hanging chorus that will remind you of your favourite days. Melancholy or not, there is nostalgia laced, and this song shows it all:
Danielle Bloom- Oh Holy Night
Christmas gets a bluesy reckoning with Danielle Bloom’s music. Her powerful, driving vocal with the swing of the blues and distorted guitar is a perfect eggnog pairing. You would have never expected a rock version of Christmas tunes, yet Danielle Bloom delivers it with an energy and grace unlike any other vocalist we’ve heard. The shuffle is still felt, and the contrast lies in the lyrics as well as the groove that is established. It is a beautiful rendition that will elevate your holiday spirit:
John Chamberlain-Tired of Christmas
So we have a contrast here. This artist is sick of the Christmas spirit, and he isn’t afraid to sing it. He knows that this commercial festival is something that rolls around yearly, and would rather have it pass by. His post rock feel is perfect in this song, almost leaning on a grunge tone. John Chamberlain has tapped into the emo of the season to make a detailed yet poetic approach to the holiday. It is a very interesting, contrasting view that many will definitely relate to. Listen to his entertaining and emotional song here:
Kanoo-Impala
There is a need to dance around during the holidays. Leave it to Kanoo to make us something that delivers. It is a beautiful composition laced with saccharine guitar parts and drum groove that steal your attention. The magic lies in how the song overlaps to create a perfect loop, yet no two parts are the same. Kanoo are known for their idiosyncratic jumps between genres, and this leaps forward like an impala. As this is a group of friends jamming, you can definitely expect some instrumental magic to bleed through. Talent has a spring in its step, listen to Kanoo here:
Teo Salfinger-Glow
It is the season of moods with Teo Salfinger. Our list ends with a neoclassical composition that will bring you a spectrum of emotions. Creating an engaging dynamic between the vocals and instrumentals, Teo Salfinger has composed a song that extracts a mood effortlessly. His song is powered with the emotive notes that string together effortlessly. The music he makes is a rejuvenating, lucid part of dreaming. With the amount of experience he has, Salfinger can command your attention with just the powerful phrasing he shows us so well. Listen to his marvellous creation here with us!:
