Nevada-based rockers Greg and Rachael Fuhs have come together to form their musical outfit “Object X” and their debut album ‘Infinite Nothing’ was released on the 9th of November 2023. This album is a 11-track masterpiece that takes on meditations on themes ranging from mental health to perseverance amidst turbulence and does so through the audio lens of a dreamy soundscape with rich production quality and finesse.
Opening the album is “Insomnia” which perfectly introduces you to the type of journey you are about to be taken on with the heavy features of dual vocals, a ticking clock that doubles as a metronome and the slow muted rhythms perfectly capturing the feeling of anxiousness and paranoia you feel when you are unable to sleep. Songs such as “Live to Die” and “Rise and Fall” reflect the time this outfit has spent in the industry and their evident alt-rock inspirations and background as it continues in the album's theme of being chock full of opulent twangy guitars, hazy synths that lend themselves to create a thematically consistent sound. This album opens and piques your interest right from the opening seconds of “Insomnia” and keeps you immersed in its dream pop aesthetic all the way until culminating in its grand finale of “Still Falling” which features a soaring and dizzyingly vast ambience. Every song on this album is a work of art in its own right.
This album is also a remarkable showing in production quality and overall technical songcrafting as Object X have created a listening experience that stays incredibly dynamic while still smooth and well-flowing. Every song seamlessly flows into the next without any jarring blows or whiplash-inducing tonal switch-ups, nor on the flipside do they all sound same-y and manage to each have a style and distinct personality of their own. Object X has shown true and genuine promise as a band with this release and I urge you to go give “Infinite Nothing” a listen for yourself!
