I got over autotune a while ago. Something about that cloying robot sound has always jarred my nerves whenever I turn on commercial radio. Like anything related to taste in music, there are exceptions to this. Kanye West’s autotune drenched 808s and Heartbreak is his most important album post-college trilogy era, Drake can write some banging hooks with the technology, and then there’s ‘Jungle Fever’ by Akh. Built around an eerie synth three note synth melody that recalls Trent Reznor at his downward spiralling best, this one is quite simply A Big Tune. The hooks are soulful, the production is immersive, and really, we all deserve to get down to this one next time we're in the club, so come on world.
