Given that the first days of Trump’s presidency have been even uglier than feared and that our own national embarrassments — Gove, Farage, Johnson — have feted the despot like starstruck children, any dissent, and there’s a lot of it about, is to be embraced. It helps when delivered to a champion tune, of course, and Hull’s LIFE have done just that, setting their indictment of the orange one and his British minions to bristling new wave. Brothers Mez and Mick’s agit vocals — “Wrapped in a red cross, draws a ring around himself” — call out over slacker bass’n’drums that build to a turbulent punk-rock chorus. ‘Euromillions’ announces the Hull four-piece as a fierce proposition and bodes well for their upcoming debut album.
