‘Ah Ouin’ is the second taste of Chocolat’s upcoming third album Rencontrer Looloo. It’s simpler than the jazzy modal exercising of their last single ‘Les Pyramides’ and arguably more immediate. A heady guitar riff drives most of it, and together with the vocals, forms a smutty and sexy rock number of the kind Patti Smith wrote plentifully in the seventies. The production and saxophone fills indicate some influence from imperial period Roxy Music too. From what we’ve heard so far, Rencontrer Looloo will be the sleeper hit of the year with its unique synergy of psych and art rock.
Chocolat release Rencontrer Looloo on November 11th via bandcamp.
