Chess Club’s latest signee Skott has from first listen been one of the year’s most distinct voices. Talking to Zane Lowe earlier this year on Beats 1, the Scandinavian singer confessed how she developed her unique approach songwriting originally by trying to soundtrack video games. New song ‘Lack Of Emotion’ is a beautiful oddity. Her approach to melody is completely unique - each line she delivers sounds like a hook in itself. At one point there are some glitchy synths that suggest a possible gaming influence, but the whole ensemble is so expansive and cinematic that it’s beyond any uncertainty that Skott will be a big name in the pop world before too long.
